HOT & SPICY SZECHWAN SEASONING MIX

Originating from Sichuan Province in southwest China this sauce derives its spiciness from its peppercorns.

WHAT YOU NEED:

1 packet Sun-Bird® Hot & Spicy Szechwan seasoning

¾ lb. chicken, pork, or beef, cut into strips

  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 red or green bell pepper, sliced
  • ¼ lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 can (8 oz.) bamboo shoots, drained 

PREPARATIONS:

  • Combine mix with sugar, soy sauce, and water; blend and set aside.
  • In large skillet or wok, heat oil, add meat and stir-fry until browned.
  • Add onion, carrots, and bell pepper; stir-fry.
  • Add mushrooms and bamboo shoots; stir fry.
  • Add seasoning mixture and stir-fry 1 minute or until thickened.

Makes 5 servings, about 1 cup each as prepared above.

FOR HOTTER FLAVOR, add crushed red chiles to taste.
